Libertarian Animal Talk Radio

I have been threatening to produce a Libertarian/Constitutionalist Talk Radio Show for some time. Yesterday, a friend of mine held my feet to the fire and had me step up to a microphone - completely unprepared and sick as a dog - for a rant. This is what came out.

The media is chock full of nuts from both sides of a failed argument. I am going to take a run at this; first as a webcast series and then (with any luck) on brokered broadcast radio.

I will post my stuff here and at my other blog "Libertariananimal.blogspot.com".

Feel free to critique away, my email is libertariananimal (at) gmail (d0t) com

----------------------------------------

Don't know how many of you caught this. A Miami Beach police officer pointed a gun at an innocent bystander for filming a police shooting. This is serious stuff; the kind of stuff that can lead to civil unrest and entire cities being burned to the ground. Having goose-stepping-NAZI-garbed thugs threatening to KILL (that's what pointing a gun at somebody's head is... a threat to kill) for having the temerity and audacity to witness and record a government worker is not going to lead anywhere else.  I have lived in South Florida for most of my adult life and I am AT LEAST as terrified of the cops as I am the criminals. And Miami Beach? That city will never see a nickel of my money. That city's government has lost its humanity.

Here is one of the videos. You can google more for yourself.

BTW... a gun was found in the car. Maybe the driver DID threaten a police officer with it. In that case, the police MAY have been justified (and maybe they were not... it has been reported that 4 innocent bystanders were wounded). Or, given the police department in question... maybe the gun materialized in the deceased's car after the fact. I will leave that to Internal Affairs, although I have little faith in them, either.  Like I said: The answer for thinking people is to boycott this city. Starve them of the resources needed to continue this insanity. Unfortunately, the risk that NON-thinking people will take matters into their own hands is very, very real.

Jeffers,

Read this about sun spots and the magnetic poles on the sun. Kind of makes global warming sound stupid in retrospect. This is the final nail in the coffin of global warming. This must be why they switched it to climate change. Maybe next time the left wing totalitarians will have a longer range view of things than This. Global warming seems to be nothing more than a fanciful mirage of faulty computer algorithms, with a heavy side of political machinations.

P.S. sounds like I was right in saying that Global warming is not due to humans, but to the ultimate source of all energy in our solar system.

Ya I like the way these LEO's are pulling their hair out over video these days. If they manage to make it illegal to video record them we will know the gig is up. So many of them are power mad thugs and every rights we as citizens used to have is being trampled daily.

Nice audio rant to Greg. I would have went off on the Dept of Education before Homeland Security though :)

Amy,

I am surprised you attack that hard without actually you know, making a point. If venom is your tool, you kind of suck at it. I mean using swear words makes you sound so much more intelligent.

So for you I will explain the whole issue very clearly to you. Anthropogenic global warming is a myth because the water vapor multiplier is not valid. (Jeffers you got that link I sent you a few weeks back on this, I can;t find it) The CO2 amount cannot affect weather patterns enough in any modeling to change weather without said water vapor effect. So that leaves us the other option, you know that giant flaming red/yellow ball in the sky might have variations in output. When the activity on the surface slows, then the corresponding heat also decreases. So the link I gave shows that the solar radiation is decreasing which would most likely explain the almost 10 yr decline in temperatures. I do not deny or accept global warming; the earth has natural variations in temperature based on the solar radiation. The problem with the environmental lobby is that they are trying to pretend like the earth has some naturally pristine state, when in reality the Earth is constantly in flux. Have you ever thought about the fact that the Dinosaurs lived on a much warmer earth? Why is a warmer earth not the natural state of things?

Nicola Scafetta of Duke University when expounding on a phenomenological theory of climate change said that “At least 60% of the warming of the Earth observed since 1970 appears to be induced by natural cycles which are present in the solar system. A climatic stabilization or cooling until 2030–2040 is forecast by the phenomenological model." A astrophysicist at Harvard-Smithsonian center for Astrophysics Willie Soon says “"There's increasingly strong evidence that previous research conclusions, including those of the United Nations and the United States government concerning 20th century warming, may have been biased by underestimation of natural climate variations. The bottom line is that if these variations are indeed proven true, then, yes, natural climate fluctuations could be a dominant factor in the recent warming. In other words, natural factors could be more important than previously assumed."

Here is the opinion of Frederick Seitz former president of the National Academy of Sciences
"The scientific facts indicate that all the temperature changes observed in the last 100 years were largely natural changes and were not caused by carbon dioxide produced in human activities."

"The first thing to note is that the 100 years of global warming occurred in two stages--a temperature rise of approximately a half-degree Fahrenheit early in the century from 1910 to 1940, and another half-degree temperature rise toward the end of the century in the 1980s and 1990s. Between these two periods of warming, from the 1940s to the 1970s, the Earth actually cooled somewhat. Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide cannot cool the planet; they can only warm it... Aerosols are produced mainly in the industrialized nations of the Northern Hemisphere and usually do not get across the equator; they are washed out by rain in a few weeks... In the Southern Hemisphere the warming effect of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere should be fully evident. But it is not. The two hemispheres display the same pattern of temperature change. The fact that the cooling in the 1950s and 1960s is a feature of the temperature records of both hemispheres indicates that the absence of the predicted global warming cannot be due to aerosols……….So we have to conclude that some other natural factors in climate change were at work in those middle decades of the century”

Dex,

I would think that the carbon dioxide would wind up in the ocean and then be pushed about by ocean currents, help fuel allege blooms, etc. However I am suspicious of carbon dioxide making a significant contribution to our ever changing climate but concrete is another matter entirely. The urban heat island effect does not have a corresponding cooling in rural areas so there should be a general warming trend due to the pervasive use of concrete and a corresponding loss of solar reflectance from leaves grass etc. It’s really kind of delicious that these clowns are so busy fixating on their argument that the miss the obvious.

Also the two hemispheres should not show the same pattern because they are fundamentally dissimilar. In the north we have massive continents’ where in the south the extensive oceans moderate the temperature. The apoapsis, the point farthest from the Sun, occurs during the northern summer. There is just so many ways they are fundamentally different that if the data shows them to be similar then the data is suspect.

Best,
Dan

Please do not accuse me of posting any more to this website. I have not posted here since you posted your rant about Arnold and John Edwards. I would never stoop to calling anyone I don't know a "f--cking moron". Do yourself and everyone else a favor and set up your website such that people need to register or subscribe to comment. You are asking for trouble otherwise. If you leave your front door open you are inviting strangers and wackos into your house.

No don't do that...there are some of us that would still like to post from work, and for whatever reason, gmail is blocked by iPrism.

Greg,

Good rant, you sound a bit wild though. I don't know if that is a positive or a negative. It hasn't hurt Glen Beck et al. You have a much better message. Good luck!!!

Hopefully you'll change a few minds. We'll need a lot of mind changing to get through this. I listen to the libs at work complain that "if the government only did this, or that for them, blah blah blah." It is very discouraging. The Federal government is 50% underfunded, all the cities and states are broke and they still expect government to do more.

A really nasty downside to Socialism, is that Socialism indoctrinates everyone to believe that the government should be doing something for them. When it doesn't deliver or can't, social unrest ensues. China is seeing some of this. The West will too. It is all about expectations. It did not have to be this way.

Greece is in complete chaos, could cause the failure of the euro. The rating agencies are about to axe the ratings of French banks who own Greek debt. The president is being sued over violations of the war power act. The whole damn world is overleveraged. They are now saying another 20% down for housing, manufacturing just went negative, homebuilder sentiment hit the dumps, oil has doubled in a yr and all of this is leading to massive deleveraging the world over coming soon to a county, state and federal government near you. I suggest you check Zerohedge, the headlines suggest something like the Lehman collapse could happen with the bank downgrades, and the market liquidity just went defcon 1. If you missed the Irish are considering a default on bonds
Oh don’t forget the new regs Obama is pushing are forcing the closing of 25% of coal fired power plants by 2014. Don’t worry we will replace them with nuclear plants, crap have not built one of those in 30 yrs.

Coal Guy,
There is going to be a lot of people who don’t know what to do when the food stamps, welfare, Medicare and the rest of it hit the dumps.

Jeffers,
Do think this means the dollar will rally? What about the Euro? How long can they hold this together?

The thing that gets me about releasing all this fossilized carbon and creating all the CO2 is the relatively rapid acidifying effect it's having on the oceans. Now, I would imagine that worldwide oceanic pH has varied in the past, probably at least as much as it is dropping now, but it's also probably true that there were fairly substantial biological changes accompanying the change as well. Given that we've already fished the oceans to death as well as dumped all manner of garbage in the oceans, should we really be in effect, releasing all this carbonic acid into the oceans as well?

Which brings me to this question: what do topsoil and ocean water have in common?

Answer in another post.

Stephen,

Most people think that the CO2 is absorbed by plants and that green plant life is responsible for keeping it in check. While it is true that green plants do this, the amount of carbon stored in plant cellulose and fossil fuels is minuscule compared to the amount stored in miles-thick sheets of limestone across the globe. It is the carbonate cycle and the creation of carbonate rocks that is the major method of CO2 removal in nature. About 40% of the CO2 created from fossil fuels each year is absorbed by the oceans. The half life of excess CO2 in the atmosphere is about 40 years due to absorption. A lower pH (to a point) makes it easier for crustaceans to make solid carbonates from the CO2 in ocean water. Further, there is a cycle at the ocean floor the replaces carbonates with sulfates as water flows rock at the bottom. At what point pH becomes a problem, I don't know, but there is a lot of buffer in the oceans.

I haven't done a detailed analysis, but it looks like fossil fuels will be long gone before the oceans are in trouble. Consider that only the pH at the top is lowered. The deep water is not affected until it rolls to the surface to be exposed. We have been sending CO2 to the upper layers for 100 years without serious damage. Since the time to turn the water in the oceans in on the order of 500 years, there is a considerable grace period. Fossil fuels will be long gone by then.

Notice that no one had brought this problem up until global temperatures stopped rising on schedule.

Coal Guy

Interesting Coal Guy.

I first heard about the ocean/CO2/pH problem maybe 6 or 7 years ago.

I take it you have noticed increased discussion of it?

From a 95 yr old hero of the "the Greatest Generation" stands up and speaks out: Dear President Obama, My name is Harold, approaching 95 on 12/13 of this yr. People meeting me for the 1st time don't believe my age since I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 serving proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western end of Pearl Harbor, allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country. 1 of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only 1, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man. So here goes...I am AMAZED, ANGRY and DETERMINED not to see my country die before I do, but you seem HELL BENT not granting me that wish, what country you are the president of? You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:" We're no longer a Christian nation" " America is arrogant"- (Your wife even announced to the world," America is mean-spirited." Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness) I'd say "SHAME on the both of YOU"! I don't think you like America, nor is there an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House. After 9/11 you said," America hasn't lived up to her ideals." Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn't mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know, the 1 that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected. Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man. SHAPE UP and START ACTING LIKE AN AMERICAN. If you don't, I'll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves. And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts , who was putting up a fight? You don't mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists. ONE MORE THING:I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you're the Commander-in-Chief now, son. DO YOUR JOB! When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of 1 American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you're thinking of. You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president. You're not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That's not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now. And I sure as hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle...Sincerely, Harold B. Estes
